Depuis 1984, la première compétition d’alpinisme Fribourg-Schauinsland n’existe plus en tant que terrain de compétition pour les championnats d’Europe. Il est toujours intéressant de parcourir l’ancienne route via Fribourg en Forêt-Noire. Auparavant, le parcours menait sur 11,5 kilomètres jusqu’à 1 200 mètres d’altitude. Le virage le plus célèbre : le Holzschlägermatte.
