Werben est mentionné pour la première fois en 1346 dans un matricule de la principauté épiscopale de Meissen, mais existe probablement depuis environ 1000, ce qui en fait l’un des plus anciens villages de la forêt de la Sprée. De 1464 à 1945, la famille von Schönfeld habite le manoir.
