Friedland est une commune allemande de Basse-Saxe. Il est situé dans le quartier de Göttingen.
Friedland est un nom bien connu en Allemagne. Le 20 septembre 1945, les forces d’occupation britanniques installent un camp de transit sur le terrain de l’université de Göttingen. Friedland était idéalement situé à la frontière des zones d’occupation britanniques, américaines et soviétiques. Au début, ce sont surtout les Allemands des anciens territoires du Reich allemand à l’Est qui y étaient reçus. Jusqu’en 1955, des prisonniers de guerre allemands d’Union soviétique y sont également arrivés. Les réfugiés de la RDA sont arrivés ici dans les années 1980.
