Le château impérial de Nuremberg , construit au XIe siècle, est l'une des plus importantes forteresses d'Allemagne. Pendant cinq siècles, empereurs et rois y ont séjourné.
Le château se dresse sur un rocher de grès au nord de la ville. L'ancien château des Burgraves, presque totalement détruit en 1420, a été complété au XIe siècle par le Kaiserburg, dont l'aspect actuel remonte aux XVe et XVIe siècles.
