Le château d’Oberlangenstadt est situé dans le quartier de Küps, dans le district de Kronach en Haute-Franconie, en Bavière.
Oberlangenstadt est situé au milieu du vaste paysage de vallée du moyen Rodach. L’emplacement favorable du village sur cette rivière, qui servait de voie de transport au Moyen Âge, justifiait l’établissement d’un total de dix résidences aristocratiques dans la région du bourg de Küps, auquel appartient Oberlangenstadt. Neuf des dix propriétés existent encore, certaines d’entre elles ont été fortement modifiées, en tant que ruines ou monuments archéologiques.
