Le Dietlhofer See est situé dans la ville de Weilheim, près des limites nord de la ville. Avec le Gögerl et l’Ammer, c’est l’une des zones de loisirs locales les plus populaires pour les habitants de Weilheim.
La Toteissee, qui s’est formée au cours de la dernière période glaciaire, tire son nom du hameau voisin de Dietlhofen. Il a une surface d’eau totale de 89 000 m² et une profondeur d’eau allant jusqu’à 19,6 mètres. Malgré la persistance d’une très bonne qualité de l’eau, la température de l’eau peut monter jusqu’à 29 °C en été.
