La Skite de Saint Spiridon est située à Geilnau près de Balduinstein, qui appartient à son tour à la Verbandsgemeinde de Diez en Rhénanie-Palatinat.
En 1989, le bâtiment d’une ancienne auberge a été acheté par une petite communauté de moines orthodoxes et transformé en Skite. L’ancienne salle de réunion est devenue une chapelle. Au milieu des années 1990, l’évêque orthodoxe serbe pour l’Europe centrale, Konstantin, a élevé la communauté au rang de Skite. Bien que la Skite dépende de son monastère mère, le monastère orthodoxe serbe de la Très Sainte Mère de Dieu à Hildesheim-Himmelsthür, elle est administrativement complètement indépendante.
