La forêt d’Aix-la-Chapelle se trouve à environ 3,7 km au sud du centre-ville d’Aix-la-Chapelle et a une superficie de 2 357 ha. Il comprend essentiellement les zones forestières de l’ancienne ville impériale libre d’Aix-la-Chapelle au sud et à l’ouest des anciennes communes indépendantes de Burtscheid et Forst, ainsi que le nord et l’est de la frontière belge. À l’exception de quelques petites parcelles, tout est de propriété municipale. En juillet 2003, la forêt d’Aix-la-Chapelle a reçu le label environnemental du Forest Stewardship Council à l’initiative de Greenpeace, qui a été prolongé en 2008 pour cinq années supplémentaires.
