Le Landkreis Grafschaft Schaumburg, basé à Rinteln, était jusqu'en 1977 un Landkreis en Basse-Saxe. Il a été créé le 1er janvier 1822 en tant que Kreis Schaumburg dans le landgraviate de Hesse, est devenu Kreis Rinteln en 1866 dans la province prussienne de Hesse-Nassau et a reçu le nom de Grafschaft Schaumburg en 1905. Depuis 1932, il fait partie de la province prussienne de Hanovre et, depuis 1946, de Basse-Saxe. Son territoire provient de la partie curhessoise de la Grafschaft Schaumburg et appartient aujourd'hui, à l'exception de la ville de Hessisch Oldendorf, qui fait partie du Landkreis Hameln-Pyrmont, au Landkreis Schaumburg.
