L’Elta est une petite rivière sur la Baar dans le district de Tuttlingen, qui se jette dans le Danube par la gauche à Tuttlingen après un cours d’environ 16 kilomètres.
L’Elta prend sa source à environ 780 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer dans une zone boisée entre Trossingen, Spaichingen et Gunningen sur le Baar sur le versant oriental du plus haut sommet du Lomberg à 816,2 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer, Bildstöckle à côté de la K 5913 menant à Spaichingen. Elle coule d’abord vers l’est-nord-est, quitte la forêt dans la prairie de Heusteig et prend son premier affluent au pied nord du Bildstöckle à partir de la gauche. Puis, après environ un kilomètre et deux croisements sous la route départementale, elle tourne du sud-sud-est au sud-est et passe du quartier de la ville de Spaichingen à celui de la commune de Gunningen.
