Wildstein était autrefois une commune indépendante et a été volontairement incorporée à la commune de Teunz dans le district de Schwandorf le 1er janvier 1972.
Dans le cadre de la réforme communale, la commune de Teunz a été rattachée au nouveau district de Schwandorf le 1er juillet 1972. Depuis le 1er janvier 1974, les communes de Teunz, Gleiritsch, Niedermurach et Winklarn ont été fusionnées au sein de la Verwaltungsgemeinschaft Oberviechtach.
