Wahnbek est un quartier de la commune de Rastede dans le district d'Ammerland. Le quartier borde le quartier d'Etzhorn de la grande ville de Basse-Saxe, Oldenburg. Le centre-ville d'Oldenburg est à sept kilomètres.
Wahnbek faisait à l'origine partie de la communauté d'Etzhorn. En 1871, Wahnbek avec Ipwege et Buttel comptait 90 maisons d'habitation et 124 ménages avec 575 habitants. Wahnbek à lui seul avait dans 26 maisons 33 ménages et 154 habitants. Jusqu'en 1897, Wahnbek avec Etzhorn faisait partie de la commune rurale d'Oldenburg, de 1897 à 1933, de la commune d'Ohmstede. Grâce à la réforme administrative de 1933, Etzhorn est devenu partie de la ville d'Oldenburg; Wahnbek, Ipwege et Ipwegermoor ont été intégrés à la commune de Rastede dans le district d'Ammerland.
