Le Cattégat, en danois Kattegat, en suédois Kattegatt, est un espace maritime comprenant plusieurs détroits au sud et une vaste baie au nord, s'étendant entre le Danemark et la Suède, plus précisément entre la péninsule danoise du Jutland et la province suédoise de Halland.Le Cattégat se connecte au nord au Skagerrak, un passage maritime communiquant avec la mer du Nord.Au sud, il comprend plusieurs détroits communiquant avec la mer Baltique : l'Øresund au sud-est, le chenal du Grand Belt et celui du Petit Belt au sud-ouest.Le Cattégat s'étend selon un axe nord/sud de plus de 340 km de long, depuis sa limite nord jusqu'au débouché sud du Grand Belt .Il a une superficie de 32 000 km2.Sa profondeur moyenne est de 23 m.Les principaux ports du Kattegat sont :
