La Crèche est une commune du centre-ouest de la France située dans le département des Deux-Sèvres en région Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
Au nord du Bassin aquitain, dans la plaine de Niort le bourg de La Crèche s'est implanté de part et d'autre de la Sèvre niortaise. À l'origine trois villages existaient : Saint-Carlaix, Breloux-La Crèche et Chavagné. L'unification de ces trois communes dans les années 1960 a permis de rassembler des moyens humains et financiers de part et d'autre d'une voie ferrée établie à la fin du XIXe siècle, d'une voie royale, devenue nationale puis déclassée aujourd'hui en route départementale.
