Plobsheim est une commune française, située dans la circonscription administrative du Bas-Rhin et, depuis le 1er janvier 2021, dans le territoire de la Collectivité européenne d'Alsace, en région Grand Est. Elle fait partie de l'Aire urbaine Sud de Strasbourg.
Située sur le canal du Rhône au Rhin, la commune de Plobsheim se trouve sur la liaison cyclable en site propre Strasbourg - Marckolsheim aménagée sur le chemin de halage du canal, l'un des maillons alsaciens du grand itinéraire cyclable européen EV15 qui relie la source du Rhin, située à Andermatt en Suisse, à son embouchure à Rotterdam.
