Creutzwald est une commune du département de la Moselle, en région Grand Est, près de la frontière franco-allemande. Elle est localisée dans la région naturelle du Warndt et dans le bassin de vie de la Moselle-est.
Un décret du 24 mars 1809 rattache les communes de Creutzwald-la-Houve et Creutzwald-Wilhelmsbronn à celle de Creutzwald-la-Croix, qui est renommée Creutzwald le 30 juillet 1961.
