Solesmes est une commune française, située dans le département de la Sarthe en région Pays de la Loire, peuplée de 1 214 habitants, connue pour ses deux abbayes bénédictines : l'abbaye Saint-Pierre et l'abbaye Sainte-Cécile.La commune est aux confins du Haut-Maine et du Maine angevin. Son bourg est à 3 km à l'est de Sablé-sur-Sarthe et à 48 km au sud-ouest du Mans.
