Nozeroy est une commune française située dans le département du Jura, en région Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Elle fait partie de la communauté de communes Champagnole Nozeroy Jura.Fondée au XIIIe siècle par le seigneur Jean Ier de Chalon, situé en hauteur, Nozeroy accueillit un château fort de Nozeroy aujourd'hui en ruines. Nozeroy eut son heure de gloire au Moyen Âge, durant 300 ans, sous la dynastie de la Maison de Chalon-Arlay, princes d'Orange. Elle contrôlait les routes d'accès vers la Suisse et l'exploitation du sel .
