Montagnac-Montpezat est une commune française située dans le département des Alpes-de-Haute-Provence en région Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Elle a été formée le 1er janvier 1974 par fusion-association des communes préexistantes de Montpezat et de Montagnac, selon la loi du 16 juillet 1971 .En conséquence, la commune regroupe actuellement deux villages , distants d'environ 4 kilomètres, qui sont chacun le centre d'une section de commune pourvue de son propre POS, de sa propre police et de son propre état-civil. Un certain nombre d'infrastructures sont également théoriquement ou effectivement doublé . Le nom de ses habitants est Montagnacais et Montpezatiens .
