Entre Kaymar et Dourdou, la commune de Pruines s’étend sur 25 km2 et les traces précoces de vie y sont nombreuses : dolmen, fanum, four tuilier, voie antique, sites sidérurgiques, vestiges de mines gallo-romaine sur les hauteurs, sarcophages mérovingiens dans la vallée…Le Dourdou de Conques, d'une longueur totale de 83,7 km, prend sa source dans la commune de Lassouts et se jette dans le Lot à Conques-en-Rouergue, après avoir arrosé 12 communes.
