Aranc est une commune française, située dans le département de l'Ain en région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.La commune se situe dans le val d'Aranc. Il est bordé, à l'est par les Monts d'Ain et le Tré Pellay culminant à 1 016 mètres, au nord par la chaîne de l'Avocat, à l'ouest par la vallée de la Mandorne. Le Val d'Aranc culmine à une altitude moyenne de 780 mètres. Un marais borde le village au nord. Le Borrey y prend sa source. Les monts d'Aranc créent une frontière naturelle à l'est. Le point le plus bas de la commune est au hameau de Moment : 406 mètres.
