Barbizon est une commune française située dans le département de Seine-et-Marne, en région Île-de-France. En 2019, elle compte 1 207 habitants.Barbizon est un des endroits mythiques de la peinture pré-impressionniste en France. Dès 1830, ce qui est encore un hameau de bûcherons accueillera en effet à l'auberge Ganne, tous les peintres qui viennent chercher l'inspiration auprès de la nature intacte. Plus tard, ils partagent leurs séjours entre Barbizon et Chailly-en-Bière, trouvant leurs sujets dans la campagne ou la forêt de Fontainebleau toute proche, peignant sur le motif.
