Balazuc est une commune française, située dans le département de l’Ardèche en région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, labellisée Village de caractère et adhérant à l'association Les Plus Beaux Villages de France.
Balazuc est situé à 7 kilomètres de Vogüé et à 18 kilomètres d’Aubenas. C’est, depuis des millénaires, un site de gué sur l'Ardèche qui fut une place forte gauloise, d’après son nom Baladunum de bal, le rocher et dunum, la hauteur fortifiée en gaulois .
