Richemont est une commune française située dans le département de la Moselle, en région Grand Est.
La commune est située en plein sur l'axe mosellan Metz-Thionville et également sur l'axe transfrontalier Luxembourg-Metz-Nancy. Elle est ainsi idéalement desservie par l'autoroute A31 ; position stratégique d'un point de vue économique comme politique. Cette situation a fait du village une place forte durant le Moyen Âge sous le nom de Fort Ornelle et qui a consacré alors le pont de Richemont « Marche d'estault » , entre le Luxembourg et le pays messin.
