Haut-lieu de la guerre de 1870 où le 06 août, s'est déroulée la deuxième bataille et défaite française de cette guerre. De l'emplacement où est situé le char américain qui symbolise la victoire des alliés, Adolf Hitler a adressé, son discours de Noël. Très fréquenté pour son tourisme militaire, le site des Hauteurs est aussi un lieu de promenade et de détente très prisé grâce à son panorama exceptionnel, ses chemins et sentiers forestiers et sa zone d'accueil pédagogique transfrontalière.
