Castirla est une commune française située dans la circonscription départementale de la Haute-Corse et le territoire de la collectivité de Corse. Le village appartient à la piève de Talcini.
Castirla est une commune de montagne qui se situe à une quinzaine de kilomètres au nord de Corte. Elle appartient à la microrégion du Talcini et se trouve aux portes du Niolo, accessible par la Scala di Santa Regina.
Elle est limitrophe au parc naturel régional de Corse auquel elle n'a pas adhéré. Curieusement la commune constitue presque une enclave.
