Le 4e arrondissement de Paris se situe sur la rive droite de la Seine. Il est bordé à l'ouest par le 1er arrondissement, au nord par le 3e arrondissement, à l'est par les 11e et 12e arrondissements et au sud par la Seine et le 5e arrondissement. La partie orientale de l'île de la Cité ainsi que l'île Saint-Louis font elles aussi partie du 4e arrondissement.
