Aménagée au XVIIIᵉ siècle à l’initiative du comte de Blossac, intendant du Poitou, la Promenade de Blossac prend place sur l’ancien site d’un château féodal démantelé en 1574. Conçu comme un jardin à la française, le lieu fut initialement planté de centaines d’ormeaux et de charmilles provenant notamment de Saint-Maixent et de l’abbaye des Châteliers.
Installée sur un éperon rocheux dominant la vallée de la Vonne et la forêt du Grand Parc, ancien terrain de chasse des seigneurs de Lusignan, la promenade offre aujourd’hui un cadre paysager remarquable. Un sentier au pied des vestiges permet d’imaginer l’ampleur de l’ancienne forteresse médiévale.
