Fidèle à ses racines, il peint ce qu'il a toujours vu et ressenti autour de lui dans ce coin du Périgord où les hommes ont façonné le paysage avec leurs mains, aidés par les animaux familiers qui ont peiné et souffert avec eux depuis des générations.
Jean Giono admirait ses toiles et le comparaît à Louis Le Nain, grand maître du réalisme français du XVIIème siècle.
