La Wolkenkrabber de 40 mètres de haut, ou la maison de 12 étages comme on l'appelle officiellement, se trouve à un endroit central dans le Plan Sud d'Amsterdam conçu par Berlage. Cet immeuble de 12 étages marque la fin de la Vrijheidslaan, où la Rooseveltlaan commence à gauche et la Churchilllaan à droite. Le gratte-ciel présente des caractéristiques à la fois de l'École d'Amsterdam et du fonctionnalisme. La tour symétrique dispose au centre d'un ascenseur et d'un escalier avec un appartement de chaque côté. Les matériaux utilisés sont le béton, la brique jaune, l'acier et le verre.
