De Gooijer a été construit en 1775. Le moulin est de type "grondzeiler" et a pour fonction de moulin à drainage. Le moulin est situé près de Wolvega, au bord de la rivière Linde.
À l'origine, le moulin se trouvait à Blesdijke. Après environ soixante ans, le moulin a été déplacé pour la première fois vers 1835 à Noordwolde, où il a fait environ quatre-vingts ans de service en tant que moulin à farine. En 1917, le moulin a été déplacé pour la deuxième fois. Avant la restauration en 1991, le moulin était connu sous le nom de De Walden, et a été renommé d'après le dernier meunier professionel du moulin. Le propriétaire est l'association It Fryske Gea.
