Le Ravensbosch est en partie situé dans la commune de Valkenburg aan de Geul, une autre partie plus grande se trouve dans la commune de Beekdaelen près de Hulsberg et Schimmert. Le Ravensbosch est un bois de pente varié avec des différences de hauteur d'environ 50 mètres et une superficie d'environ 80 ha. Dans la forêt, il y a deux étangs qui sont retenus par deux barrages. Bien que ce bois très vallonné soit situé près de routes très fréquentées, il est resté relativement inconnu. La forêt est accessible depuis toutes les directions et semble offrir à chaque "entrée" une vue différente. La forêt est jalonnée de nombreux chemins étroits et larges.
