Cette chapelle a été créée après la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
Comme la Seconde Guerre mondiale s'était heureusement déroulée sans de graves dommages matériels pour la population d'Etten, on voulait, en signe de gratitude, établir une chapelle dédiée à Marie.
Le local de pompiers sur la place, qui était devenu vide lorsque les pompiers avaient trouvé un meilleur abri, s'est avéré approprié et en 1952, il a été cédé en location par la municipalité comme chapelle.
