Gdańsk , est la 6e ville de Pologne par sa population. Située sur la mer Baltique, c'est la plus grande ville portuaire polonaise. Ayant été le chef-lieu de la voïvodie de Gdańsk entre 1975 et 1998, la ville est, depuis 1998, le chef-lieu de la voïvodie de Poméranie, avec le rang de powiat-ville.
