Monowitz est un sous-camp ou l'un des trois grands camps du complexe concentrationnaire et de mise à mort d'Auschwitz. Il fut établi en octobre 1942 en Pologne occupée.Monowitz était conçu primairement comme un Arbeitslager , mais il comprenait une forte composante d'extermination. Il renfermait approximativement 12 000 prisonniers, des Juifs dans leur grande majorité, mais on y trouvait aussi des prisonniers de droit commun et politiques . Au camp de Monowitz était adjointe la Buna-Werke, une fabrique de caoutchouc à laquelle on envoyait les détenus travailler.
