La fontaine Campo das Hortas est une fontaine de style maniériste avec un système pyramidal élancé en hauteur, avec deux bols superposés.
En 1594, l'archevêque Frei Agostinho de Jesus chargea son maître maçon préféré, Manuel Luís, de construire une grandiose fontaine en granit décorée à l' extrémité est du Campo de Santa Ana (aujourd'hui Avenue Centrale).
En 1865, il fut démantelé et déplacé sur la Praça do Comércio et en 1914, il fut déplacé à son emplacement actuel.
