Le mont Ida en Troade , actuel Kaz Dag , est une chaîne montagneuse de Mysie, en Asie mineure, délimitant la région de Troie. Ses plus hauts sommets sont le Cotyle et le Gargare, souvent enneigé. Le promontoire qui s'avance en Troade est nommé le Lectos.
Les légendes issues des textes homériques et du Cycle en font le théâtre de nombreuses épisodes mythologiques :
