L’université technique du Moyen-Orient , fondée le 15 novembre 1956 à Ankara, est l’une des meilleures universités turques.
Elle couvre une superficie de 45 km2 dont 3 043 hectares couverts de forêt et constitue ainsi l'un des plus grands campus du monde. Elle est située à 20 km du centre-ville.
Plus du tiers des mille meilleurs élèves turcs rejoignent chaque année cette université et son excellence est déterminée par un examen d'entrée très difficile. Elle est considérée comme la meilleure université technique du Proche et Moyen-Orient par le classement académique des universités mondiales établi par l'université Jiao-tong de Shanghai.
