La Bithynie est une région historique de l'Asie mineure située sur la côte nord, entre le détroit du Bosphore, la Propontide, le Pont Euxin, la Paphlagonie, et bornée au sud par la Galatie et la Phrygie.
Les villes principales de Bithynie sont Nicomédie et Nicée, qui se disputent le titre de capitale selon l'époque, ainsi qu'Héraclée du Pont, Pruse et Chalcédoine.
