Les Grandes Plaines sont une région de l'Amérique du Nord, la partie médiane du continent au centre des États-Unis et du Canada, à l'est des montagnes Rocheuses. La région est semi-aride, constituée de vastes plaines qui s'étendent des provinces canadiennes de la Saskatchewan et de l'Alberta au nord, jusqu'au Texas au sud.
Aux États-Unis, la plupart des Grandes Plaines du Nord sont drainées par le Missouri et ses affluents.
