Le vol Eastwind Airlines 517 était un vol entre Trenton dans le New Jersey et Richmond en Virginie aux États-Unis.
Durant la phase d'approche finale sur l'aéroport de Richmond, le Boeing 737 bascule brusquement sur sa droite pendant une trentaine de secondes, à la limite du décrochage. Le pilote tente alors de redresser l'appareil mais la pédale du palonnier est bloquée. Quand elle se remet à fonctionner, l'avion revient en position normale. Puis, l'avion entame à nouveau une violente bascule sur sa droite, avant de retrouver quelques instants plus tard sa position initiale. Le pilote parvient à faire atterrir l'avion intact.
