Itinéraire de randonnée - le plus beau. Belle balade avec occasionnellement un panneau d'information. Spectaculaire car on accède ici à un cratère, relativement facilement accessible, formé en premier lors de l'éruption de 1730-1736.
C'est un cratère (relativement) petit et simple (en termes volcanologiques) qui ne peut éclater qu'une seule fois. Par une fissure dans la paroi, une grande masse de matériau volcanique a soudainement pu s'échapper. Grâce à la force de cette masse, une partie du bord du cratère a été emportée.
