Il comune di Roppen, con la sua omonima capoluogo, si trova cinque chilometri a sud-est della città di Imst, tra le foci del Pitze e dell'Ötztaler Ache nel fiume Inn. A nord, il comune è delimitato dal Tschirgant, a sud dal Wildgrat. Il comune ha un'area di circa 30 chilometri quadrati. Di questi, sei percento sono utilizzati per l'agricoltura, più della metà è coperta da foreste, undici percento sono alpeggi e più di un quarto è zona alpina. I torrenti Leonhards e Waldelesbach, situati nel territorio comunale, sfociano anch'essi nel fiume Inn.
