Rik van Steenbergen ha un monumento ad Aarendonk, dove è nato il 9 settembre 1924. È stato campione del mondo su strada per ben tre volte. È stato ciclista professionista dal 1942 al 1966 (dai suoi 20 ai suoi 42 anni). Ha anche partecipato a sei giorni con suo genero Palle Lykke. È morto ad Anversa il 15 maggio 2003.
