La chiesa di Gentbrugge è la chiesa di San Simone e Giuda. È circondata da un vasto cimitero lungo il fiume Schelda.
Ti accorgerai che si tratta di una chiesa eccezionalmente grande. Non è una coincidenza. Durante la ricostruzione della chiesa alla fine del XIX secolo (la precedente chiesa fu demolita nel 1868) questa area stava diventando un forte polo industriale. E l'industria porta con sé molti lavoratori. A quel tempo c'era una dura lotta tra il socialismo e la Chiesa. Questa chiesa doveva opporsi al socialismo emergente.
