Il Sint-Michielscollege ha un ex-allievo molto famoso: Paul Otlet, fondatore della scienza dell'informazione. A 15 anni fondò un'associazione per collezionisti. Avevano anche un bollettino per i membri: "la Scienza", ma lui lo scrisse quasi interamente da solo. Allora era già un accanito collezionista. Aveva una collezione di naturalia che collocò in quello che lui stesso chiamava "Museo Otlet".
