Manderfeld si trova a pochi chilometri dal confine belgo-tedesco nella riserva naturale delle Alte Valli a un'altitudine compresa tra i 540 e i 670 metri. Nei dintorni sgorga l'Our. Nel caso in cui sia caduta sufficientemente neve sulle Alte Valli, Manderfeld offre alcune strutture per gli sport invernali. Fino alla fine della Prima Guerra Mondiale apparteneva alla Germania, ma a seguito del Trattato di Versailles nel 1920 passò al Belgio come parte dei cosiddetti Cantoni orientali, la regione intorno a Eupen, Malmedy e Sankt Vith.
