Waregem è infatti il mecca belga degli sport equestri con il suo ippodromo. La Grande Steeple Chase delle Fiandre, che si corre annualmente durante il Waregem Koerse (il martedì dopo l'ultima domenica di agosto), non ha nulla da invidiare a quell'altra grande corsa ad ostacoli, il Grand National all'ippodromo di Aintree nel Regno Unito, a Liverpool. Wortegem e soprattutto Nokere colgono con entusiasmo l'occasione di partecipare alla fama di Waregem. Molti cavalli di razza sono qui in stalla. Alcuni di essi hanno persino una piccola pista di allenamento.
