Dall'antico castello rimane solo un'imponente collina o motte. L'edificio in legno originale fu sostituito nel corso del XII secolo da un donjon in pietra. Questo era circondato da due mura e fossati di 20-25 metri di larghezza.
Il motte-castello mostrava il potere dei conti di Hainaut. La fortezza fu abitata fino al 1434, quando morì l'ultimo signore di Bever. Dopo di che tutto cadde in rovina. Nel 2010 qui pascolano tranquille mucche. Tuttavia, la terra ha rivelato alcuni segreti. Nel 1964 furono messi alla luce molti resti. Questi possono essere visionati nel museo locale di Halle.
