Melsen è un comune del Belgio nella provincia di Fiandre Orientali e una frazione di Merelbeke. Melsen si trova sulla Schelda, sulla strada da Gand a Gavere. Ha una superficie di 3,86 km² e conta circa 1.400 abitanti.
Le prime menzioni di Melsen risalgono all'818. Il feudo di Melsen, noto anche come feudo di Ter Gracht, era un possedimento del Paese di Rode nella contea del Paese di Aalst. I più antichi signori conosciuti di Melsen portavano il nome Vander Gracht. A Melsen avevano un sontuoso castello, ma questo fu distrutto già verso la fine del XVI secolo. Nel 1650, la famiglia Goubau acquistò il feudo e lo mantenne in possesso fino alla fine dell'ancien régime. A Melsen si trovavano anche altri feudi, tra cui il feudo di Coudenhove, il più grande e importante.
